Prolific Academic Review – Make £300 a Month Doing Prolific Surveys

Prolific Surveys

I’m always looking for new ways to make money online. Today I’m going to be writing about Prolific Academic which is easily one of the best survey sites around. Prolific surveys are a great option for stay at home mums, supplementing your income or just for extra cash.

Prolific is a completely legit way of making extra money doing real surveys online

What is Prolific Academic?

Prolific Academic, these days just known as just Prolific, is my favourite survey site.

Prolific actually refer to their surveys as studies because real scientific research is conducted on their platform by colleges, universities and other education and research establishments. Large brands and start-ups also use Prolific to do market research when launching new products.

Here’s just some of the researchers using Prolific:

  • Oxford University
  • Harvard University
  • Stanford University
  • Cambridge University
  • Cancer Research UK
  • Spotify

With Prolific you are actually helping to shape the future by taking part in research from real and credible establishments like those above. And you get paid well. How awesome is that?

How to Make Money with Prolific Surveys

Making money with Prolific surveys really couldn’t be any easier.

You need to signup by clicking here and under the ‘Account’ area you need to fill out your cashout details (PayPal email) and verify your email and phone number to prove you’re real.

You then need to answer ALL of the questions under the ‘Prescreening’ tab in the ‘Account’ area. This is important because this is how researchers target the audience they need to take part in their studies. It takes a little while to answer all of them, but it’s worth it. Trust me.

After that you keep an eye on the ‘STUDIES’ page for eligible studies to appear.

Here’s what you’ll see when you’re eligible for one:

Prolific Survey Eligible
So that survey, well study, pays £4 with an average completion time of just 5 minutes. Where else can you earn that? It’s so impressive. But look at the available places, only 2 spaces out of 50 were available so you have to be very fast. Click ‘Select This Study’, complete it, get paid. Easy.

Prolific payout at just £5 via PayPal. But wait until at least £20 to avoid fees.

MEGA TIP:

New studies will only be emailed to a small number of eligible participants so you’ll miss out on most of them. Don’t wait for those. Instead, regularly visit the STUDIES page to check for new Prolific surveys. You can make up to £20 a day by doing this, like I did in my first day.

How Much Can You Make with Prolific Surveys?

As my title suggests, you can definitely earn an extra £300 a month by doing Prolific surveys if you take it seriously and put some time and effort into it whilst using my tip above.

I made £20 in my first day with Prolific when I opened my account in January.

Here’s how my Prolific account looks right now:

Prolific Cashout Details
That’s a total of £30.21 from just two days of doing studies and doesn’t include the £20 I made in my first day, because I have already been paid that. That’s £15 a day on average.

And remember, this is money you’re earning whilst sat on your sofa at home with a film on, or while your kids are tipping your house upside down. It doesn’t get any better than that. Put as much or as little time and effort in as you like. You could aim to cover some of your bills, build up holiday spends, pay for the weekly takeaway, pay for days out. Anything is possible.

One thing to note is that the studies you become eligible for are based on things like your age, nationality, language spoken, where you live, etc. I’m eligible for quite a lot of studies at 30 years old with kids, but someone younger or older might be eligible for more or less.

What I Love About Prolific

As I said Prolific is my favourite survey site by far. Here’s a few reasons why:

You won’t be screened out of surveys

This is one of my pet hates with the majority of survey sites. You start a survey excited to make some money, and after 10 questions you get thrown out and told you’re not eligible for it. It’s annoying as hell. With Prolific that never happens because we answer those prescreening questions. That means any survey (study) we take part in, we’re completely eligible for.

They pay you well for your time

A lot of survey sites pay peanuts. One springs to mind where you’re paid £0.40 for 20 minutes of your time, and that’s if you’re not screened out half way through. Prolific endorse ethical rewards and suggest a minimum of $6.50 an hour for participants. Most studies pay much better.

Refer Your Friends to Prolific

Referring your friends to Prolific is an awesome way to make a bit of extra money.

For each friend you get to sign up to Prolific, you will earn 10% of their first cashout. So if your friend makes £50 before cashing out, you’ll be paid £5. Make money being a good friend.

Is Prolific Legit or a Scam?

Prolific is certainly not a scam. It is a completely legitimate way to make money online by doing surveys, or studies, from the comfort of your own home. Be a part of important research.

Summary

Prolific is one of, if not the best survey site out of them all. It pays well, it pays fast and there are always surveys available that you’re eligible to take part in. It’s a must-use survey site.

  1. Marty – reading this with interest…. does the information still apply…. I signed up to Prolific 3 weeks ago…. NEVER get prompted that I am eligible for studies…. tried in various ways to participate including contacting researchers directly….. worked for a few studies…. but usually am told I am ineligible even when I am clearly eligible…. but today a researcher told me the criteria included ‘a good study record on Prolific’…. does this mean that NEW participants cannot get onto studies? Prolific information system has been totally unhelpful!

    • Hi Deirdre,

      Thanks for your comment.

I haven’t experienced this myself, but as mentioned in the post in order to find the most studies possible you need to really wait around on the Prolific site and refresh their dashboard waiting for new studies to appear. A bit of a slog, but only a small number of people get emails when new studies are released so that is a much harder way to take part successfully. Hope that makes sense.

      Marty
