On Wednesday Nora and I took the kids to Fairy Glen for a nice walk in the sunshine. We ended up searching for faeries haha. It was fun!
Fairy Glen is a beautiful place on the side of Parbold Hill in Appley Bridge, Wigan. It’s a lovely piece of woodland filled with wildlife, flowing rivers and waterfalls. It’s also known as Bluebell Woods locally.
Someone had been and sprinkled glitter throughout the woods which was really cool because we followed it with the kids and said it’s faery dust.
During the lovely walk through Fairy Glen you cross many bridges and see many beautiful waterfalls. There’s a main track that leads to a loop around the major waterfall at the bottom of a large set of steps.
We followed the faery dust, stopping to look in fallen trees and holes in the ground for the faeries. And I climbed some trees with the kids!
Once we passed the big waterfall we dropped down into the flowing river from a small bridge a little further down and walked up through the river back towards the waterfall. It brought back so many memories from when I was a kid. Rock hopping and getting wet. It was so much fun.
The kids loved it. It was once big magical adventure for them!
There are benches throughout Fairy Glen so you can sit down with the family and enjoy the beautiful views and sounds around you.
We’re going to go back one day next week for a lovely picnic.
I created my first YouTube video of our day at Fairy Glen which you can watch below. Song is Pocketful of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield.
